Schengen zone visitors
In June 1985, 15 European countries agreed in Schengen (Luxembourg) to end the internal border controls of persons, when the necessary controls have been completed upon first entering oneof the 15 participating countries. The advantage of such "Area of free movement of persons" is that travellers only need one visa for the whole "Schengen Area".

However, not all European countries are part of the Schengen zone and there are differen types of Visa's. Toobtain a Schengen visa you must produce proof of adequate insurance covering costs for emeregncy treatment, hospitalization, urgent ambulance transportation and medical evacuation back to the home country.
